He invited me to a board game cafe. I'm a woman with a fiercely average Scrabble record, so this sounded safe. His sister and two cousins were already there. He said they just wanted to say hi. Then his sister placed a little cardboard sign in front of me that said AVAILABLE TALENT. They were holding a family hobby draft. Apparently my profile mentioned baking, sewing, and hiking. His sister claimed baking for her parties. A cousin used a "priority pick" to reserve alterations. The other wanted me to lead a camping trip and asked whether I owned enough tents for everyone. My date looked genuinely pleased. "Usually they don't agree on someone this fast." I explained that liking hobbies wasn't an offer to provide services. His sister said trades were allowed if I preferred sewing for her instead. I got up. My date asked what he was supposed to tell his family. "I'm entering free agency." He asked if that meant I was available next Sunday.
