Her puppet wanted to speak to my references

She arrived at our coffee date with a ventriloquist dummy in a little cardigan. She introduced him as Dennis and said he helped her screen potential boyfriends. I'm a polite guy. Then she slid over a form requesting three character references and my "position on decorative towels." I said I wasn't filling that out for a puppet. She covered his ears. The barista called my drink, and I took the opportunity to leave. She followed me to the door and said Dennis would consider a written apology. I told her I'd wait until he could ask me himself.
