She tried to repossess a museum painting
Entered in Week of Oct 26
Her profile said she was an artist with work in a museum, so I suggested we meet there. I'm a guy whose main artistic achievement is peeling a price sticker off in one piece. I was impressed.
She marched straight to a landscape and whispered, "My finest work."
The plaque said it was painted in 1892.
"That's the inventory number," she said.
Then she pulled a label maker out of her purse and printed her first name. I laughed because surely this was a bit. She stuck it directly over the plaque.
A guard approached. She announced that she was reclaiming her intellectual property and asked me to "distract him with your boyfriend energy."
We had met eleven minutes earlier. My boyfriend energy was mostly holding two admission receipts.
She finally admitted she hadn't painted it. She'd posted a photo of it with a filter, which made this "the raw file."
I left while she demanded to speak to the museum's copyright department.
She texted that I hadn't supported her art. I sent her a picture of the exit. My first original work.
